Here's the story...
Did you ever wish to revisit your dreams at will? Alex found a way to do just that. He embarked on an adventure by unethical and controversial means, not knowing where it would lead. But he was looking for answers as a chronic nightmare sufferer. Do you want to take a trip with Alex?
To find out more, check out The AL-EX Project (ALternative EXistence) Testing the limits of dream control described as science fiction in its lightest form. With adventure and humour thrown in, it tells the story of Alex, a nightmare sufferer for many years who, with his scientist mentor, discovers a way to not only re-visit his dreams and record their images on screen, thus picking up on detail that is often lost on waking, but also to manipulate them - essentially "testing the limits of dream control".
Alex believes that answers that have stumped scholars for decades about the subconscious and dream interpretation can be found in the dream state, and in particular one character in his dreams appears again and again. He means to find out why. Desperate to explore this other realm, by highly unethical and controversial means, is Alex exposing himself to something deep, dark and dangerous?
And here's my promoting spiel on the authors discussion forum on Amazon
Looking for something different - an interesting and entertaining story? I've just received another fab 5* review for my sci-fi, sci-thri, fantasy mix The AL-EX Project (ALternative EXistence) Testing the limits of dream control, 5 stars for a new book that rocks the dream world... is it science fiction or real?
Read a tale that blurrs the lines between reality and make believe? If you've ever been interested in dreams read about Alex's adventures in the dream state. He's a researcher on a mission. Follow him into an alternative existence as he explores a different realm. He put his name to this project, initially all in the name of science. He could lose his wife. He could possibly lose his life!
But keen to push the boundaries, will he live to regret his unethical and controversial actions? It's possible he could find the answers he's seeking, or he could be heading into something deep, dark and dangerous! However, although it's serious stuff, by all accounts this is a light-hearted and humorous novel.
One last word:
There's a little rhyme that came to me on completion of the book, around the time that I made the last draft. It was interesting not just because I made it up, but also because it asked a question and left it up in the air.
I included it at the front before the first chapter because I felt it was thought-provoking and tapped into the whole question of the meaning of dreams. And of course I thought it was a clever rhymn to occur to me just as I was preparing to publish my book. And yes, it might well be an unusual or even macabre way to look at what happens when we sleep, but there has always been debate and controversy surrounding dreams, the dreamstate, the subconscience while we sleep and, who knows, maybe there really is a very thin line between sleep and death. It's just another thought to think about!
Is being asleep a prelude to death?
Do we breeze through where we may one day tread?
Does life thrive on the sleeper's breath?
Or when we sleep . . . are we really dead?
